Flagging & Communications
Commonly referred to as Corner Workers, flaggers work at predetermined "stations" around the track (see flag stations page). They inform Race Control of the conditions of the race and the track at their stations by way of 2-way radios. They communicate information to the drivers by use of the various flags.

Fire/Rescue
Our fire-rescue personnel are the "first response" to any accident on the track.  They are trained for race accident response.  Our trucks are equipped with extrication equipment, standard water, and fire suppression system.  To be a member of the Fire Rescue Team you must be a certified member of a New York or Pennsylvania fire department.

Pit Marshals
Pit marshals monitor the pits for all areas of safety.  Their   duties include, but not limited to: pit speed limits, appropriate attire, access to authorized pit crew members, safe refueling procedures and informing drivers of on-track problems with their cars.

Paddock Marshals
Areas outside the garages where teams work on their cars, or drive to the pits/race track are considered paddock.  The responsibilities of the paddock marshals are to insure the safe operations of race vehicles in these areas and direct pedestrian traffic out of race areas.

Grid Marshals
Grid marshals control vehicle and pedestrian traffic on the grid and false grid.  They assist the drivers in lining up in race grid order.  In the event of a race stoppage, they will verify car sequence with officials for the restart.
Course Marshals
Course marshals provide the track with race related clean-up services.  They go to work after an accident or to clean up an oil spill or other track problems.  They also repair and replace guard rails damaged by accidents.

Race Medical
Volunteers in race medical provide supplemental EMS to our paid paramedic units, doctors and nursing staff. Our workers staff the pits, grandstands and infield areas as well as the radio room of our infield medical building during spectator events. A New York State Certification or a PA certification with NYS reciprocity is required of all members providing patient care.

Worker Support
They are the "life support unit" for RSI members. They provide refreshments to the track workers during the hot days of summer and the cooler days of Spring and fall.
